Lagos Ranked World’s Second Worst City To Live

Lagos is the second worst city to live in the world, according to an annual report from the Economist published Thursday. The city was only ahead of Damascus, the capital of war-torn Syria, which retained its place as least liveable city on the planet. Meanwhile, the Austrian capital Vienna made a comeback as the world’s most liveable city. The Ukrainian capital Kyiv was not included this year after Russia invaded the country in late February, while Russian cities Moscow and St Petersburg fell in the rankings over “censorship” and the impact of Western sanctions. The Ondo State security network agency, Amotekun Corps, says it has arrested some people it suspects of carrying out the terror attack on St Francis Catholic Church, Owo. The commander of the corps in the state, Adetunji Adeleye, said the suspects were arrested in collaboration with other security agencies and they were still on the trail of other perpetrators. No fewer than 40 people were killed in the attack, while many others were injured. Portable Involved In Messy Fight A Day After Traditional Wedding And Son’s Naming Ceremony

Controversial singer, Habeeb Okikiola popularly called Portable has been involved in a messy fight yesterday at Ibadan, the Oyo State capital. FEC approves N50bn for roads in Northeast, FCT Electrification Project

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved N50 billion for rehabilitation of roads in Taraba and Yobe States as well as the construction of injection substations to boost power supply in Gwarinpa area of the Federal Capital Territory. The News Agency of Nigeria reports that N48.4 billion of the amount was approved for roads in Taraba and Yobe while the remaining N1.6 billion was meant for the FCT electrification project. The Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, revealed this to State House Correspondents at the end of the council’s meeting chaired by President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja on Wednesday. Giving the breakdown of the N48.4 billion, the minister said N29.8 billion was approved as revised cost for the rehabilitation of Yola-Hong-Mubi road and N18 billion was approved for the Yobe State Government as refunds for the construction of federal government roads in the state. Nigeria records five months zero piracy on territorial waters

Nigeria has reported five straight months of zero attack by pirates and sea robbers on the nation’s waterways. Speaking recently during the 2022 World Hydrography Day celebration in Lagos, the Minister of State for Transportation, Gbemisola Saraki, explained that the nation was in a celebratory mood because it had been able to combat piracy and crimes at sea within the Gulf of Guinea and its territorial waters. Saraki said that this was the first time in 28 years that there had been no attack on the nation’s territorial waters, noting that the feat was duly recognised by the International Maritime Bureau. “Today makes it five months of zero attack on our waterways. This is the first time in 28 years that there has been no attack. This is a feat duly recognised by the IMB. I therefore congratulate the Federal Government, the Federal Ministry of Transportation, the Nigerian Navy and the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency.”

7 people was kidnap in Kaduna

Seven people have been reportedly kidnapped in the late hours of Tuesday when bandits attacked Keke A and Keke B areas of New Millennium City, Chikun LGA of Kaduna,  They also kidnapped another man who is the immediate neighbour of the military officer. In fact, the neighbour was picked up alongside his eight-year-old daughter, but they eventually dropped the daughter when her mother continued shouting at the top of her voice. “Another man who was just returning home in his car at the time ran into the kidnappers. He was the third person that was taken away,” the source said. Also, a resident of Keke B confirmed to our correspondent that a man, his wife and two of their housemaids were also kidnapped. When contacted, the Kaduna State Police Command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Muhammad Jalige, said he would get back to our correspondent but had yet to do so at the time of filing this report.
